Trout Smith rods are crafted by family and friends in Colorado and Montana to be loved a lifetime. The rods themselves represent exclusive tapers developed over time from renowned rod designers such as Shane Gray, Mike McFarland, and Dusty Smith as well as collaborations from the Trout Smiths team. 

Each rod is built to order with precision using premium components from Struble Manufacturing. Trout Smiths and Struble Components are owned by the same three friends (John and Steve have known each other since Kindergarten) which enables us to offer not only the absolute highest quality ingredients for a fly rod, but also to affordably offer standard niceties you simply won't find on similarly priced rods made anywhere by anyone. Agate stripping guides, Struble "Turtle Check" (integrated nickel silver hook-keeper and winding check), unique wood inserts culled from the Struble Select inventory, and laser etched butt-cap are all standard appointments to Trout Smiths fly rods-- No up-charge for the finer things. 

We believe in value, so we also include a top-quality flannel rod bag sewn by Susan in Penrose, Colorado. These bags are durable with a vintage, "north woodsy" look and come in a handful of different styles, meaning the bag you receive will be fairly unique.

We offer tubes as well, but because we know most fishers have a number of tubes already, we've made them optional. If you need a tube, just add one on; if not, save $50 and use one you already have.

Trout Smith rods are offered with a 30-Day "Happy" Guarantee. If you don't love them, send them back to us--unused-- for "rehoming." [After 30 Days, there will be a $75 Rehoming Fee.]
